If you use XFS, make sure you have good power. XFS does not like power

Thanks a lot for the advice. Power outages do happen and I don't have an
UPS. Why does it happen? Isn't XFS journaled?

a) journaling does not prevent data loss. It prevents fs corruption

Well, but having to reinstall a system usually means you've badly corrupted your FS. I'm a bit naive maybe -which realistic situation can lead to a screwed system by simple data loss?

b) XFS does very aggressive caching. Do you have a power outage, you might be lucky, or you might be screwed.

Yes, I read the previous thread, and I'm quite perplexed. A cache of *megabytes* kept for *hours*? Mmm. I'm not sure it's what I want and/or need.

What about JFS?
