Did they change anything on how you configure your static ip address? I've updated my system today and connot access the internet anymore, when using my static ip address, just dhcp.
I used to use my /etc/conf.d/net like this:
config_eth0=("192.168.254.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.254.255")
routes_eth0=("default via 192.168.254.254")
