Did a quick google and found:

http://lists.us.dell.com/pipermail/linux-poweredge/2003-May/007682.html < 
suggests smp-acpi doscsi cdcache as boot options, but this is a Poweredge 6400.

The gentoo wiki page is a bit.... empty 
(http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Dell_PowerEdge_6450) might want to add some 
stuff if you get this working?
