My only input at this time (since I am a total newb when it comes to Gentoo), is this.
I had an issue with circular dependencies, but it was because I did not understand the intricacies of use flags at the time. Now that I understand better, the only problem I seem to run into is trying to get my video drivers to work. However, at the moment, I am not in a high bandwidth location, so I must settle for using the generic "networkless install" until I get back to my landline. :P Just remember, use USE sparingly. Compile what you need, not everything under the sun. Don't insist on trying to get alsa and OSS to work side by side (Alsa has OSS emulation installed so you don't have too), and if you want to use Gnome and KDE on the same system, just plan out your install so that you set the right flags for the right packages. Often times the error when it fails to build, will tell you what to fix. You just have to get used to reading the messages. :) --- Ken -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
