1) Nothing does depend on expat-2.0.1. A lot of packages do, however, depend on expat and when a new version changes the ABI and removes the previous version, everything that uses expat needs to be recompiled against that ABI. 2) Even if something did strictly require 2.0.1 portage doesn't do deep dependency resolution without --deep which also happens to upgrade everything to the newest visible version. -- Bo Andresen
