Hi list,

So, I have a small issue: I have come to hate the glitches in Evolution
and want to try out other email clients.

Now, the problem is, the emails are all stored locally in Evolutions
directory structure, and kmailcvt hangs when importing.

It was suggested to me by a dorm admin to set up an IMAP server and just
move all local email to that, then access it with $email_client. I
personally like this solution, though I could also set it up on the
local dorm server.

Therefor my plan is to install an IMAP server (and whatever else I need)
and have it serve to localhost for access. One question would be: what
is the optimal way to get my email to said server. I would think either
fetchmail or an equivalent *OR* forwarding them from GMX *OR* using a
filter. Probably the first or third.

Is any of this possible or feasible? Would there be any (noticeable)
performance implications? Does anyone have recommendations?

Now, I'm not expecting a step-by-step tutorial, just some
recommendations and pointers towards the best way to set this up.
