I emerge openoffice-2.3.0. Whenever I try to start any component, it hangs. For example

When I type ^C I get back a prompt but the splash is still there. I then emerged openoffice-bin and when I run it the same libGL messages appear, but the program starts. However, there are still problems. When I started oowriter file-to-edit.doc a window pops up saying Error loading BASIC of document file:///opt/OpenOffice.org/share/basic/WebWizard/script.xlb: General Error. General input/output error I don't have a directory /opt/OpenOffice.
