If you do not have a proper working xorg.conf with an older kernel, you should be better off trying hal+evdev and configuring some .fdi files if you have to. Add USE="hal" in xorg before you emerge it and also set INPUT_DEVICES="evdev" in your /etc/make.conf. If you're lucky it may just work straight out of the box. -- Regards, Mick
