OSMI should pick up multipolygon relations whose outer rings double back onto themselves. However, depending on the exact situation it is possible that things are a little counter-intuitive because:
* if a way doubles back onto intself (e.g. nodes A-B-C-D-C) then it will show up on the general "geometry" layer;
* if all ways are ok but only when combined into a multipolygon you have it doubling back (e.g. way 1 = A-B-C-D, way 2 = C-D), then it will show on the "multipolygon" layer.
If you encounter a bug that is not shown on any of these I would be interested to hear details.
