I had the same problem - accident stats from local police. I uses postgis loaded with the osmosis simple schema. Then you select all ways with name A and make a collection and all ways with name B and then create the nodes with their junction e.g. ST_Intersect. You then end up with one or a few intersection nodes. I interpolated them to a single node if they were less than 60m apart.
