Basically there are three encoding: 1) Global: 8FR9WFX5+6R 2) Local+City: WFX5+6R Bern 3) Local: WFX5+6R - Not unique, but for nearby places "good enough" 1) + 3) wouldn`t required any DB access, 2) uses top-level coordinates of places (countries, cities) to select a location Regards, Oli PS: Maybe there are some Zooglers (Zurich Googlers) following the mailing list and could help to test / implement?
