Geocoding uses the same database as the main map, but it is possible that the update cycles are not synchronized, i.e. that a change is already on the map but not yet in geocoding or vice versa. In the long run Geocoding will make use of corrections you upload to OpenStreetMap, and you don't have to do anything special.
