FYI (and an opportunity for a shameless plug), two articles on this topic have
been published in the past half year with more current data. One, by P. Oldham
, B. Szerszynski , J. Stilgoe , C. Brown , B. Eacott , A. Yuille, is available
here:

http://rsta.royalsocietypublishing.org/content/372/2031/20140065.

The authors discussed their findings during the Saturday lunch session at the
SRM conference in Cambridge last weekend.

Last month my article on this topic was published, and it is available here:

Andrew and list:

This note intended as a warning - mainly that this article (dealing almost
entirely with patent issues) is from 2010. The term “geoengineering” is
intended to mean (mainly - not entirely) solar geoengineering.

My personal view is that patents in much/most of the CDR world are probably a
help - as IP is the main way to raise needed funds. I hope Chris Avery and/or
others from the UM can comment on this missing aspect of their study, some 5
years later.
