Good idea. However since the workshop was yesterday and I am currently on a research vessel in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, my chances of participating would seem rather slim. In any case, you can be sure that the huge CCS lobby and vested interests that DOE et al have created over the past decade are not going to want any dilution of their efforts. Application of CCS to air capture I'm sure is viewed as the new growth area for CCS, regardless if it make any sense for CDR or not. What needs to happen is an information workshop on CDR, get all the ideas on the table and then build an R&D program around that. But apparently that is way outside DOE's comfort zone and more complicated than simply perpetuating their pre-ordained, "winning" but way too expensive technology.
All that being said, did anyone on this list get an invite to this workshop and can they counter my claims above?
