95.500 Penalties- Criminal. 1. Except as otherwise provided by law, any person violating any of the provisions of this Chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor. Upon conviction thereof, punishment shall be by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than six (6) months, or by a fine of not less than fifty dollars ($50) and not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by both fine and imprisonment. Failure to appear in the proper court to answer such misdemeanor citation is a separate offense. 2. In lieu of all or part of the criminal penalty which may be imposed pursuant to this section, the convicted person may be sentenced to perform a fixed period of community service.
SECTION 51. 95.510 Penalties-Civil. Unless exclusively stated otherwise in Washoe County Code or Nevada Revised Statutes, and in lieu of any criminal penalty, a civil penalty may be imposed in favor of the County in an amount no less than one hundred dollars ($100) and not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000).
