Wilfrid Laurier University invites applications and nominations for a tenured
position in human security at the rank of Professor. Applicants will be
expected to demonstrate a strong familiarity with international efforts at
promoting human security, including the existing and alternative policy
frameworks concerning human security and the major governance architectures
currently under discussion at multilateral and global scales.

The research interests of the successful candidate might address the roles of
intergovernmental agencies, regional governmental initiatives, transnational
corporations and transnational NGOs and/or social movements in shaping policy
around key issues such as inequality, poverty, social care and human rights.

The successful candidate will hold the Centre for International Governance
Innovation Chair in Human Security. This endowed chair includes a tenured
appointment at Wilfrid Laurier University and cross-appointment to the
Balsillie School of International Affairs. The incumbent will also hold adjunct
status at the University of Waterloo.

The successful candidate's research record will demonstrate a clear,
sustainable, and relevant research program. The candidate's scholarship elicits
widespread peer acceptance, is regularly supported by multi-year research
funding and attracts highly qualified graduate students. As well we are
especially interested in candidates who are effective teachers, thesis
supervisors and mentors. Applicants need not currently hold the rank of
Professor, but must demonstrate a record of scholarship that is consistent with
promotion from Associate to Professor at Wilfrid Laurier University.

CIGI Chairs are expected to teach two courses annually in the Balsillie
School's graduate programs, supervise doctoral candidates, and undertake
research relating to the School's mandate. As the Balsillie School is a new
endeavour, the incumbent should expect to take an active role in enhancing the
programs and the international profile of the Balsillie School.

Wilfrid Laurier University is committed to equity and values diversity. We
welcome applications from qualified women and men, including persons
individuals of all genders and sexual orientations, persons with disabilities,
