Hi all - Fyi about a 1-y teaching opportunity at Macalester. Dylan -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: hiring 1-year position next year at Macalester Date: Wed, 25 Mar 2015 19:16:15 -0500 From: Louisa Bradtmiller <[email protected]> <[email protected]> To: [email protected], [email protected], Katsumi Matsumoto <[email protected]> <[email protected]>, [email protected] Hi all, Please forgive the mass email. I'm writing because we're thinking about staffing in the Environmental Studies department next year and we're looking to hire someone to teach somewhere between 3-5 courses in the very broad area of environmental science. I'm hoping that you might know of some students in your departments who might be a good fit for a place like Macalester. This would be a great job for a recent PhD or someone who is ABD who is interested in teaching, or perhaps for an advanced student looking for an extra source of funding/income. In the former case, we would be able to hire them full time (5 courses, or 4 courses two of which have lab sections) with full benefits. If someone was just interested in teaching 3 courses (or 2 that each have a lab), we are also open to that possibility. The area of specialty is wide open. They'd be replacing some of my courses and some that are usually taught by a freshwater ecologist, but we'd be just as happy to give our students a chance to take courses in an area they don't usually get to explore. We would probably ask that this person teach our intro-level Envi. Science course. So, please let me know if someone comes to mind. The ideal candidate would have a strong interest in teaching, and preferably have experience as a TA (with good evaluations from students and/or the instructor). Thanks very much!
