That is a pretty ugly archive you've got there.

The simplest way to deal with your problem would be to write a quick 
program to convert the goofy values, or use a sophisticated editor (such
as Multi-Edit or Brief) to do it for you.

The more painful way of doing it is to bring it all in as ascii like you've 
done and then convert it. Simply copying the string channel to a numeric one
will do most of the conversions for you, blank fields go to zero and pure
strings
such as '-' go to dummies. Then you can use a math expression to finish the
job, 
converting the dummy fields to 0 and making the -999 fields into dummies.

There is a search and replace function in the next version, but it doesn't
work 
on an empty string. I consider that a bug, and have notified Geosoft.

The third option, if you have lots of these, is a custom import routine. In
that case
please give me a call.
