Hi John:
To calculate the vertical derivative in OASIS MONTAJ, we first calculate the
upward continuation in distance of one grid cell size, then obtain the
vertical derivative from the difference of the original field and the upward
continuation field. The coefficients used to calculate the upward
continuation are from a text book, which are originally from the Table 2 of
Henderson's paper, Geophysics, v25, p573. ("R.G.Henderson, 1960, A
comprehensive system of automatic computation in magnetic and gravity
interpretation. Geophysics, v. 25, p.569-585." )
Please contact me if there are further questions.

Subject: [geonet]: Vertical Derivative Convolution
Hi
Does anyone know what Geosoft uses as the coefficients of the kernel which
is used to calculate the vertical derivative in OASIS MONTAJ ?. I have not
been able to find any documentation.
Regards
John
