Dear Mohammed and geonet, Thanks for this lively discussion. You can all see the diversity of opinion that we work with in our user base, so I hope you appreciate the priority compromises that we must make. To help you understand how we set priorities, following are the general development guidelines that we work with when allocating resources over the course of a year: 40% of our effort is applied to generally improving the product, including documentation, user interface, removing inconsistencies, bug fixes, etc. 40% is applied to new products or new product features. This would include things like 3-D development efforts. 20% is applied to connectivity issues, such as interfacing with GIS, support for various grid formats, importing data from a variety of data sources, interfacing with the Internet. Basically getting data into and out of OASIS montaj. Over time we have found that this is the right mix to give you the best possible product that we can. On the matter of 3D, we have been researching a 3D display model for OASIS montaj for some time. 3-D to us means more than just looking at colour draped grids - it also means looking at located data (Euler solutions), models, true 3-D grid volumes, etc. In fact, our MAP files have included 3D coordinates right from the start in anticipation of a 3-D world. Until recently, the licensing of good 3D display and modeling tools was very expensive on a per-workstation basis, and we have always been committed to the idea that 3-D, when it is available, will be "free" in OASIS montaj, and as natural to use as 2-D mapping. This work is still on-going and I cannot give you a date when it will be available. As for simple 3-D perspective views of geophysical data, we planned this to be a natural by-product of our 3-D work. As Bill Morris points out, ER Mapper has excellent 3-D perspective presentation and good Geosoft integration, and we would recommend this package to meet your need for now. Having said that, there might be an opportunity for us to provide simple 3-D perspective display within OASIS montaj, but without the other 3-D capabilities. On the strength of this geonet discussion, I will bring this up in our next resource planning meeting. I hope this adequately gives you all the Geosoft position on this. Thank you all for supporting our products, _______________ Geosoft Inc.
