hi -- if you're running the 'gravity and terrain module' of geosoft, then no
need to do anything with the CG-3 or CG-5 'dump' files; the formatting of these
ascii files should be recognized by the 'gravity and terrain module' and
they'll go straight into a corresponding *.gdb. Some editing of the dumpt *.txt
files might be required, depending upon your field practises, to ensure you've
got a unique station identifier, but that aside, there shouldn't be any
problems.

but John Hayles is quite correct; the CG-5 enables you to dump data via either
a standard US-232C cable or via a USB port. Both options can be accessed
through the SCTUTIL program which comes with your system ...the data can go
straight to a directory on your laptop, or onto a USB key. Once there, you can
then import to Geosoft.

Kit.
