Hmmm... not really, I was just bringing up the idea of "hiding" the 
funcionality on an "advanced" pane... or popup. But I would not say its 
something i really *want*... i mean the drop downs along the top are 
simple enough. I more meant if it gets any more complicated... like for 
instance you mentioned about adding a filter dialog for cql filtering...

Also... popups are a bit annoying, i was more thinking about a panel on 
the page you could turn on and off.
