It also sounds like some of the pressure is off on the GeoTools side of 
things; Eclesia and his team are moved off to a mercurial 
(http://www.selenic.com/mercurial/wiki/) checkout for their work group.
Note I would like to get a GeoTools release candidate out representing 
OSGeo graduation; my understanding is there a few more issues to close 
(and a board meeting Friday) before that becomes a reality.

PS. I am trying to understand how this does not act like a branch and am 
drawing a blank :-) Perhaps I will need to try it... I wonder if it 
preserves team history when they eventually merge?
