some updates on GEOS-2296:
Actually, only the windows plugin have been implemented and tested.
On Linux side, the plugin-based ECW Library isn't ready yet. We still need
to import and test some codes/rules from the newer versions of GDAL. (Our
Imageio-Ext 1.0 leverages on GDAL 1.4.4).
Some notes on the windows Imageio-ext installer:
It will contain a notice stating that you NEED to buy a ECW license if you
want to support ECW in a server.
Moreover, before to proceed with the installation, you need to agree with
the EULA. (In case you have requested to support ECW).
In case you don't agree with the EULA, you can't proceed with the
installation and you need to deselect the ECW support and go again. (In that
case, the installer will only deploy the plugin DLL and the underlying GDAL
lib won't provide support to ECW until the user get the needed ECW SDK from
ErMapper. ).
For the moment, on Linux, we will distribute (as Imageio-ext) a version
without ECW and a version with ECW (Although this isn't based on the
"plugin" mechanism) .
The user will be adviced to read and agree with the EULA before installing
the version containing ECW. Moreover an additional note containing info
about usage in a Server will be added.
