After adding a new feature, the feature type edit page is inaccessible

After adding a new Shapefile FeatureType to GeoServer I attempted to edit the
feature. After selecting my new feature I click the edit button. Doing this
returns a blank page. This seems to only happen with shapefiles that I have add
myself(ie not the default one shipped with GeoServer). This also happens with a
PostGIS tables that I have added. I was able to replicate this error on a
server running CentOS and on my laptop running Ubuntu. Both of these are using
the Sun version of Java.
