Yeah, unless your dataset is more or less built for regionation, ie has 
some attribute which represents "feature importance", the results will 
be quite strange. Especially for road networks and the like.

No, the attribute being sortable is really the only assumption, just 
that the less equally spread the distribution the less appealing the 
visual affect when zooming in/out.
