I’m new to geoserver development and was just working through A Simple
PlugIn tutorial.
There were some version issues with the old documentation for 1.6.x
I have raised issue *GEOS-3890* <http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-3890>*

and attached an updated version in .rst for 2.0.x
