Works for me, +1 on the proposal.
I guess that if you have the links going from the worksapce to the service
editor
you might also just skip the dropdown in that case and show the page
without it, but reporting
somewhere around the top that this is the configuration for that specific
workspace.
I'd leave the dropdown available only if one reaches the page from the
global menu,
of course with just the entries that are available to that admin
