http://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/geowebcache/config.html#configuration-files states that the configuration for the defined gridsets is saved in <data_dir>/gwc/geowebcache.xml but on Geoserver 2.2.2 if there's no defined GEOWEBCACHE_CACHE_DIR it searches for geowebcache.xml in /var/cache/tomcat6/temp/geowebcache and not on <data_dir>/gwc/geowebcache.xml
