The SLD Service is no longer maintained (and has not been, in the 2.0 + release series). iirc, the sources are still available in the community section of the 1.7.x branch in SVN. You would probably have to do a little work to get them running again, it would take some Java skills and patience.

There is also a sample script that generates ramps in the scriptlet extension (intended to allow adding REST services to GeoServer by just putting JavaScript files in the data directory). You may have an easier time with this code as it was developed against the 2.0.x branch. We don't currently publish nightlies for this extension so you would still need to build it yourself.

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me. I am currently working on a project that utilises Geoserver to display maps within a web browser. My problem is that I have a file consisting of polygons and I wish to create a thematic map based on their attributes. I've came across an item in the Geoserver documentation referring to "Sld Service". I have tried downloading the restconfig as suggested by site and searching for this function but I cannot find it or find it nor find a way to implement it. Ideally I would like geoserver to look at a column which is called for example "value". Take the minimum and maximum values within this column and color map based on these values ranging for example from blue (low) to red (high). Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction as to how to get this to work if it is currently available.

Kind regards,

Barry
