Because it's a reduced version able to only deal with WMS. It has been 
created like this to speed up the loading of the preview page

Well, for sure you'll get a slower preview. Not sure in detail what will
happen, I believe you might miss an icon so keep around the old files as
well somewhere. But yeah, I don't exactly know what will happen, you'll
have to try for yourself. I believe it should work just fine past a few 
minor adjustments here and there.
