Humm... the actual interesting part was probably after this Caused By.
When pasting a stack trace please include all of the "caused by" elements
in it until the very end

If that WFS has been running for a while and it's a 2.0.x series you're
probably experiencing
http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-4329
which first starts emitting concurrent modification exceptions and eventually
will lead the WFS to always return a NullPointerException no matter what
the requested layer is

The workaround is to restart the server, the fix is to upgrade GeoServer.
