Nope... WFS is not aware of the current scale in the client, nor has rules
that would make it not return data in certain bounding boxes.

I'd suggest to dump your data as a shapefile and try again, if that persists
open a bug report on jira.codehaus.org attaching your data and the
wfs requests showing the problem
