Eh, as said, not tested. Unfortunately the postgis documentation does not say when a specific function started to exist, and when it ceased to exist, but afaik the st_* functions (which are becoming mandatory in 2.0) started to exist in 1.2. I wonder if it's possible to declare function aliases in postgresql?
