I was trying to use lines instead of polygons. actually when using a polygon, the buffer function does just what I want, and what was suggested earlier on the list. with a negative offset value, it create a buffer inside the polygon. sorry for not using the tools properly. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Everyone hates slow websites.
