Hi Anne, I got the same error about HTML character encoding, but I can see the map. On the Firebug console if you switch to the net panel you should see at least two requests, the one with the request=GetMap key-value pair is about the map. Can you find it there? And if yes can you try to execute as a stand alone request to see if GeoServer return you the map?
