However the feature has a CRS.
Justin, looking at the logs it seems the parser is using the
DescribeFatureType output instead of an internal information
source:

and the DFT output by itself does not provide any notion of the coordinate
system.
I'm wondering if this might be the cause of the feature collection's
feature type does not have a CRS?
