It is also possible to manipulate the "featuretype.xml" file. For example, open
the schema file of top:states from
\geoserver-2.5-RC1\data_dir\workspaces\topp\states_shapefile\states\featuretype.xml
Cut some attribute elements, save the file, restart Geoserver - do
http://localhost:8080/geoserver/wfs?service=wfs&version=1.0.0&request=describefeaturetype&typename=topp:states
and see what you get.

Hi List,
I want to publish a layer but don't want all of the columns in the database
to be visible in the WMS/WFS etc. Is there an easy way to "hide" columns with
GeoServer?
(I know I can re-load the data or create a View in the database, but those are
both high maintenance).
