Hi,
the mongo db store you are talking about comes from the unsupported
geotools modules, right?
https://github.com/geotools/geotools/commits/master/modules/unsupported/mongodb
That store has not seen any true activity in two years, not sure if it's
still working, or not.
You can try asking on the geotools users list, but I believe you are pretty
much on your own there
According to this presentation, there might have been improvements along
the way that
were "provided to the OpenGeo team":

Not sure what happened to them though, looking at the module history
it does not look like they were merged:
