Same here! Tested it on geoserver 2.4.0, 2.5.2 and 2.6.0, no validation errors.
On line 9 of the sld of the line style I have the start-tag <NamedLayer>.
Element Abstract is on line 14 and element FeatureTypeStyle is on line 17. So I
would guess you are using a (very) old sld. The StyledLayerDescriptor start-tag
already takes 7 lines in the recent slds of style "line".

Hi,
I tested with Geoserver 2.6 by opening the line.sld with Styles editor (copy
from existing style). It does validate for me.
What Geoserver version you have? Maybe the error with Abstract has corrected
later. I may also have a different "line.sld", it has on line 14
