I went back and just did the maintenance upgrade from 2.5 to 2.5.3 and thing
are working again. May try to go to 2.6 soon, but not today. Thanks.

Weird exception... don't you have anything in geoserver.log? This one seems to
be related to the undeploy,
which happens after geoserver failed to deploy
