But yes, the docs are not exhaustive, one would have to scan all the
MarkFactory and ExternalGraphicFactory in GeoTools and see what's available,
some contains methods that depend on external sources (e.g, the true type
font
symbology) others are built-int.

The wkt:// generator too. 2.10.x also ships with some extra symbols from
QGIS, there are no docs, but see the following code:

You can use ttf fonts as symbol sources since... uh, so much time I cannot
remember... 2008 I believe.
The extra symbols in 2.10.x compared to 2.9.x and 2.8.x are probably just
the
QGIS extra symbols.
