This is a known bug (https://osgeo-org.atlassian.net/browse/GEOS-7653) which was fixed at the FOSS4G code sprint ( https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/pull/3079). Currently this fix is only available on the nightly master builds but will be part of 2.14.0 when it is released.
If this is a critical bug for your company please consider sponsoring a back port to the old release branches.
