I am sensing a push to move to JDK 1.5...
I think that GeoAPI interfaces targeting JDK 1.5 would probably be a
GeoAPI 3.0 release. In the main time, there is probably some room for
a GeoAPI 2.1 release when we will have enough changes in it (I'm
targeting March for a GeoAPI 2.1 release, since the next OGC meeting
is in March).
However, we can experiment JDK 1.5 features right now in the pending
directory.
Thanks for the thought Martin, it makes a lot of sense to do so - but
won't help me w/ my
current deadline. Just thought I should report back that my ideas on
how to support
multiple versions are not worth thinking about until Java 5 is around.
Note: the simple idea w/ just using javadocs will still work. For
GeoTools we are doing:
- TextSymbolizer - normal SLD 1.0 api (containing both GeoTools and
GeoAPI method names)
- TextSymbolizer2 - experimental GeoTools stuff (such as SLD 1.1 ideas,
or TextSymbolizer2.getGraphic() )
StyleFactory and StyleFactory2 are used tell the two apart (StyleBuilder
will take a StyleFactory, and is used by such
things as parsing code).
