Sorry for the delay. We were all in Switzerland where we got busy with
design, then I've been traveling.

JMapPane is a quick effort to bring a minimum of functionality to
Geotools primarily to show users how to do things. We don't intend
JMapPane to be something the library supports over the long term. That
said, it would be wonderful if you want to improve JMapPane. Keep in
mind, the important thing is to keep it simple so users can see the
split between the GUI code (their work) and the Geotools library (the
project's work).
