Thanks Martin and Simone: upgrading now - and I should be exactly in 
agreement with the developers guide instructions after this - sorry to 
waste your time in version hell.

Simone I am changing projects next week - so will be largely missing 
from email. I will try an attend the weekly meetings and if I get some 
volunteer time I will try and choose between email / coding or getting 
our OSGeo story in order (so far my money is on coding).

That is buy way of asking you to follow this up with Justin, Jesse and 
Thx all of who are thinking things over.

Andrea with respect to the slightly larger issues of "catalog" 
interfaces your words were taken to heart last week; Jesse also had some 
good feedback on API short comings.  His specific concerns were due to 
experience in heavy use and throughs toward minimizing the amount of 
code implementors need to write.
