On the other hand... the application of generic types already spotted two bugs
just in the metadata module (and yet only a part of it).

I don't plan to apply generic types to the whole Geotools code base; only to the
modules that I maintain. For those modules, I already apply the patches to the
2.4 branch myself when they are needed. Hopefully the overhead for Geoserver
developpers should not be too high...
