Mean while Grass and FDO look to be through the graduation process; in particular the FDO providence review is a great example of what we need for GeoTools at the end of the day: - http://wiki.osgeo.org/index.php/FDO_Provenance_Review It seems to show what to do for included OGC schema (perhaps we can use the same approach for code derived from the schema).
