Ah, for added injury I will have to deal with a slightly more complex case as well. Say the original coverage does not span -180,180, but only -178,178. With the same bbox I'll have to generate a 4 degrees stripe with no data... any suggestion on how to determine how to determine the background value for the mosaic operation?
