Hey all,
As mentioned in earlier mails and on IRC, we now have a schedule for the
svn cleanup.
ALL YOUR COMMITS MUST BE IN BY *YOUR*
MID AFTERNOON MONDAY MAY 12th 2008,
WHEREVER YOU ARE.
NO SVN COMMITS FROM GEOTOOLS CONTRIBUTORS TO
http://svn.geotools.org/ WILL BE ACCEPTED THEREAFTER.
ON *YOUR* WEDNESDAY MORNING YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO RUN A NEW
CHECKOUT FROM A REPO TO BE NAMED SOON
(probably http://svn.geotools.org/gtrepo/)
You will all realized that, due to timezones, this is a little broader a
time frame than strictly necessary. Sorry for those of you down under,
it means the rules keep you down a little longer than strictly
necessary; however it makes the explanation cleaner. Anyone working
between Vancouver and the dateline should plan to stop using the svn
earlier than the above rule.
Also, we thought we could prevent the new checkout requirement but,
since we are moving stuff around significantly (i.e. the modules/
directory is moving up two levels in the repo), it's easier to start
anew. The repo layout will stay the same as the current geotools/
directory, ie. trunk/ branches/ tags/ however, trunk will now actually
contain the modules and other directories currently in gt/ so we will
have:
REPO_ROOT:
branches/
tags/
trunk/
build/
demo/
doc/
licenses/
modules/
pom.xml
README.html
rename.xml
spike/
and the checkout command will probably be:
svn co http://svn.geotools.org/gtrepo/trunk/
or the equivalent on any branches or tags you are working against.
We hope eventually to drop the gtrepo part of the name, once we
experiment, schedule, cleanup and relocate uDig. Specifically,
UDIG IS *NOT* AFFECTED BY ANY OF THESE CHANGES.
So get your work done this week/weekend and we should be back up,
smaller, better, faster.
cheers,
adrian
